This week we had the chance to check out a dynamic exhibition at the Harvard Allston Education Portal Galleries: Beasts of Burden: Our Complex Relationship with Animals, curated by artist Jane O’Hara. How do we as a society or as individuals view animals? Obviously, in many different and often conflicting ways. The exhibit presents a range of work spanning from a meditative series of ink paintings on the process of grieving after the loss of a pet, to the graphic and deeply disturbing video Farm to Fridge produced by the animal rights group Mercy for Animals.
We were very moved by these thought-provoking and diverse works.
The exhibition is open through May 5th. Below are a few highlights.
